Your Mind; Your Gold Mine

Isn't it amazing how you can change your life and the world around you by the power of your mind!  See how. Let’s set sail from this safe zone. A wise man once said “more gold and wealth has been mined from the minds of men than from the gold coast in Accra Ghana or the earth crust”. Know this; your mind is your gold mine.

The big question is, how do I mine the gold in my mind? It all begins with understanding your frame. Man is a tripartite being, we are spirits who have a soul and live in a body called our earth suit. Man is principally a spirit being, though we pay more attention to the body because it is the part of us that we see every day.

The soul and the spirit are the invisible part of man whose activities are hard to differentiate but by the word of God (Hebrews 4:12). Most people have well developed bodies but underdeveloped spirits and minds. Such people are adults on the outside but children on the inside.  Judging ourselves based on face value is often times misleading. There is more to you than what meets your eyes.

Talking about the soul, it consists of our mind, intellect, thoughts, imagination, will and emotions. The mind is the seat of control of man and the world around him. The mind is the control tower that directs the course of our lives like the plane. It will be the dawn of a new day in your life, the day you come to terms with the realization that your success in life is not dependent on God or the devil as much as it is dependent on you.

Whether you succeed or fail it’s all a function of your mindset. I was awakened to this stack reality with this graphical analogy of the electric iron and the human frame. What the thermostat is to an electric iron is what the mind is to the human being. The element is the core of the electric iron, but it is the thermostat that regulates the temperature. The spirit of man is the core of the human being, but the mind is what regulates the events and circumstances of a man’s life.

It is therefore expedient to gain mastery of your human frame to gain mastery of lives situation and circumstances. As a tripartite being your spirit, flesh and soul has a voice. These three parts are in a continuous tussle for control of your mind. The voice of the flesh (body) is all about carnal things, the lust and craving for lives pleasures. The flesh wants to sleep, eat, drink and indulge in sex. The voice of the Soul (mind) is the voice of reason. The mind is in a constant quest for how to make things work. The mind only comprehends what is logical and what makes sense. And the voice of the Spirit is the voice of hunger for the invisible realities. We often hear the voice of the Spirit by the hunger for God.

The bottom line is, whether you yield to the flesh or to the spirit is all a matter of mindset. According to Apostle Atokolo;”Mindset is called mindset because it is the setting of the mind, and once it is set, it sets every other area of your life”. Consequently, although God has given man authority and dominion over creation, we will not dominate, until we take control of our minds, we will not be able to take control or dominate our world. Men who have learnt to mine the ideas (gold) in their minds rule their world. No wonder, it’s often said; ideas rule the world.

Your mind is a magnet, magnetizing both good and bad circumstances. Whatever happens in your life is all a matter of your mindset. So we must set our minds right. To take control of our minds is to renew our minds with God’s word. God’s word is the tool that sets our minds and shapes our world. Proverbs 4:23 says be careful what you think for your life is shaped by your thoughts. Our lives move in the direction of our most predominant thought. Your thoughts are so powerful that they can nullify your prayers. You can’t pray for prosperity and think poverty and end up wealthy. When the word dominates your thoughts, it will ultimately dominate your circumstances.

There are two things that define a man’s life and direct his course; what he thinks (Proverbs 23:7) and the name he is called (I Samuel 25:25, Gen 32:28, 17:15). You are not what you think you are, what you think, you are! You know some people think they are generous people like the man in Proverbs 23:7 who says to you eat and drink but his mind is not with you. He says one thing but his mind says another, what truly defines him is not what he thinks he is saying, but what he is thinking and not saying is who he is. On the other hand, what name you are called defines your life by reason of the fact that your name programmes your mind to think in a certain way. Abram’s name was changed to Abraham and it changed his thinking to the thinking of father of many nations. Not long after he manifested his name.

Another important function of the mind besides its ability to think is the ability to imagination. The power of imagination is man’s innate ability that puts him in the realm of divinity. The realm of imagination is the realm of possibility. God creates in this realm of all possibility before stepping out to do anything, so he doesn’t fail in His projects. The reason why God doesn’t fail is not because He is God but because of His approach to creativity. He creates in the realm of imagination first before He steps into the natural to do anything. And creativity is the function of the mind and we have the mind of Christ. No wonder God said about the people of Ur in the book of Genesis 11:6; that this which the people have began to do and nothing shall be impossible to them(restrained from them) which they have imagined to do.

Every great man is a dreamer. Truly great people are those who dream day dreams and dare to wake up and live out those dreams. After you dream (imagine) you must wake up and take responsibility for actualizing your dream. Creativity is bringing into existence what does not already exist. Hear this and hear me out, no one will be more committed to your dream than you are. And you cannot be committed and not be creative, you cannot be creative and not be productive and you cannot be productive and not be prosperous and impactful.

Great men of impact in the annals of history and our present day, the likes of Albert Einsten, Thomas Edison, George Eastman, Henry Ford, Steve Jobs, Dale Carnegie, Myles Munroe,  Bill Gates, Carlos Slim, Warren Buffet and others too numerous to mention are men who engaged their minds and mined the treasures in them.

Let’s talk about Making an Impact. When we talk of impact, we are talking about making impressions on the sands of time that cannot be erased in time or eternity. It’s an acronym that stands for; -

I – Inspiring

M – Mankind

P – Purposeful living and

A – Attitudes

C – Contributing to humanity by

T – Taking action

Inspiration means God breathing into you and you breathing in God just like you inhale air. When God inspires you, He infuses you with divine abilities, ideas, insights and concepts. It is a product of intercourse with divinity. It is birthing great ideas in mankind. In life if you are not inspired you will expire. Whatever is inspired by divinity never expires even in eternity. Every inspiration, idea and project that does not profit mankind is not of God and is useless.

Everything God created or initiates is to profit man. Mankind is the center of God’s creation. Man is the climax of God’s creation. Let your life impact, add value and meaning to mankind. Unfortunately man does not know his value. Man is a co-creator having been created in the image and likeness of God. Men who know this; Isaac Newton, the Wright Brothers, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison and several others have impacted their world with their ideas, innovations, inventions and their lives. You too can do same, if only you can tap into the untapped innate resources and treasures in your mind.

Purposeful living is what makes your life impactful. For man to live foot prints on the sands of time, he must discover purpose. Myles Munroe says; “The greatest tragedy is not death but living without a purpose. Purpose is God’s original intent for you. Pursuing God’s original intention for your life inspite of all contentions makes the world pay attention to you because you are a container with a content waiting to be discharged to the continents of the world. Walking in your purpose makes it impossible for your world to ignore what’s inside of you. Purpose makes you relevant. I challenge you to discover your purpose, why you are here. The deepest craving of the human spirit is the quest for relevance says Myles Munroe.

Your Attitude it is often said determines your altitude in life. Your attitude is actually your thought life turned inside out. It is the library of your past, the speaker of your present and the prophet of your future. Your attitude guarantees one hundred percent success. Your attitude will make you or mar your destiny. It is the setting of your mind that sets the circumstances of your life. Another word for attitude is disposition. Your disposition or outlook on life determines your position.

Contribution is one of the core purposes of life. The question is, are you making a contribution to humanity with your life. Don’t just stand up to be counted, let your life count. Your status in society is determined by your contributions to society. Contributors to society attain a status and they are not just statistics to be counted. Great minds than any other; politicians, musicians, actors and athletes have contributed to the body of knowledge and humanity. The likes of John Plato, Socrates, Aristotles, Albert Einsten etal have made foot prints on the sands of time that others have come to work in. They have made trails for others to follow. You too can be a trail blazer. Make a contribution today to humanity beginning with your family, school, community, state, nation and generation.

All said and done, Taking action is key to manifesting the great dreams, aspirations and ideas on your inside. No matter the good ideas, concepts and dreams you have until you take action, it is useless. It is often said; the smallest deed is more powerful than the most powerful intention. You have a song sing it

You have a book write it

You have a speech make it

You have a gift, talent and skill use it

You have a project embark on it

You have a message preach it

You have a dream live it

He has made an impact on the sands of time which cannot be erased in time or eternity who has inspired mankind through purposeful living, positive attitudes making a contribution whenever, wherever and to whoever destiny brings you in contact with by taking action no matter how insignificant it may seem.
